Marketing Assistant

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Marketing Assistant supports the Marketing Team by executing SEO and paid advertising campaigns, conducting keyword research using tools like SEMrush and Google Ads, and assisting with marketing research and strategy development for client projects. This role helps optimize online visibility and drive targeted traffic while contributing to content creation and campaign performance monitoring in a fast-paced digital marketing environment
TIMELINE: September 8th – March 31st
WAGE : $18.00 per hour
HOURS OF WORK: 20-35 hours/week
LOCATION: Hybrid Remote in Beamsville, ON
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digital Marketing Execution:
- Support the implementation of SEO strategies and paid ad campaigns (Google Ads, social media advertising).
- Conduct keyword research and analysis using tools like SEMrush to guide content and campaign strategy.
- Track and report on campaign performance, providing insights to improve effectiveness and ROI.
Client Project Support:
- Assist with the planning and execution of digital marketing initiatives for client projects, ensuring alignment with client goals.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and gather feedback on marketing deliverables.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and performance summaries for internal and client-facing use.
Marketing Research & Strategy:
- Conduct competitor and market research to support data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of campaign strategies and planning sessions with the marketing team.
Content and Copy Support:
- Write and edit basic marketing content, including ad copy, landing page text, and keyword-optimized web content.
- Collaborate with designers and other team members to ensure content aligns with client branding and strategy.
PROGRAMS / SOFTWARE USED:
SEMrush, Meta Business Suite, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Canva, Google My Business, Microsoft Office Suite, and Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience in a digital marketing role is considered an asset.
- Foundational knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and paid advertising platforms (Google Ads, social media ads).
- Familiarity with marketing tools such as SEMrush, Google Analytics, or similar platforms is an asset.
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
- Ability to analyze data and draw insights to support campaign optimization.
- Comfortable collaborating with internal teams and external clients.
- Interest in working with not-for-profit organizations and supporting Civiconnect’s mission.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Civiconnect receives government funding based on certain eligibility requirements. Please only apply if you meet the following criteria:
- Must be between 18-29 years of age.
- Must be enrolled in part-time or full-time studies at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Must be able to work full-time
